In 1950, about 15% of the Earth’s land surface was covered by rainforest. Today, more than half is gone. Experts estimate that more than 200,000 acres of rainforest are burned every day. You won’t believe it, but that’s more than 150 acres lost every minute of every day!
Massive deforestation brings many negative consequences: air and water pollution, soil erosion, epidemics, the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, and the loss of biodiversity. And fewer
rainforests mean less rain, less oxygen, and an increased threat from global warming.
That’s why planting trees is a top priority for us. By partnering with Eden Project, we pursue our mission to help the environment through reforestation and people by creating jobs.
Indeed, Eden doesn’t just plant trees; it hires local people to plant trees. Eden thinks that “everything lives where trees live” and seeks to reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local people to grow millions of trees every year. As the reforestation goes on, the harmful effects of deforestation begin to disappear. In addition, local people earn a fair and consistent income so they can provide for their families.
Eden’s global restoration network is already creating livelihoods for millions of people living in extreme poverty in 8 countries and 232 different project sites.
By buying our products, you will join our reforestation program: we plant three trees for each purchase.
